Change Has Arrived
It seems like we have been working hard to adjust and adapt to our schedules ever since the kiddos started their sports. The older they get, the tougher it has been, and the more complicated. And I will admit it - change is usually hard for me. Change is hard for everyone, I think. Reflecting on it, I can't believe the changes we have, all at once!
For one, Britt is done with elementary school and will be joining Brailey at middle school this fall. Yes, they will be on the same schedule! I'm thrilled! This will be such a luxury. For one whole school year! I will actually gain a couple of hours in my day. It will be like the "good old days," when they were little. One school!
We've had two schools and two sports for a couple of years, now. After all the hectic planning, things have almost seemed too easy, lately. How crazy is that?! We have been able to come home straight from school quite a few times in the last couple of weeks. Sometimes, we don't know what to do with ourselves! Not really - we always have plenty of things to do around our place. But it is a little "weird," to actually have a bit of extra time to get things done and for the little B's to have some actual "down time." For me, the timing could not be better, as I have just been given the fantastic opportunity to be the Sales Manager for Ali Dee Collection, the clothing line I love and live and breathe. Absolutely perfect timing!
When it comes down to it, the sports schedules are what causes the scheduling stress. And the fact that we don't live in town. But this is the only time Brailey and Britt will have to do it, and I am so grateful for the opportunities they have. They are growing up so fast! Over the past couple of years, however, I have sometimes wished we had an apartment in town just for the sole purpose of having somewhere to hang out after school and in between practices. But life has a funny way of working out, and we have done just fine. In fact, that is part of life, isn't it? We adjust to life.
And yet... Right? Yes, "and yet." I will miss having that special time with Britt, where he and I talked about his day after picking him up from his school while we waited for Brailey at her school. I will miss watching him play with his buddies while we wait. I will miss talking to Brailey in the mornings on our way to her school after dropping Britt off at his, just her and I. But then again, I relish the opportunity to have my B's together again, likely for the last year, because who knows what will happen in high school? Brailey might be driving them, by then... YIKES! And I won't have them held captive in my car. That is a frightening prospect to think about. In the meantime? I'm going to enjoy the change that has arrived and relish the freedom we have right now. Because, these are the days!
